thelisteningroom: A real gem of a feature act this Sunday, we’re excited! Lake is an outstanding singer/songwriter and performer about whom we could easily wax lyrical, but we’d much rather let her tell you about herself. Seriously though, this is one you really don’t want miss. IN HER OWN WORDS: My name…

Louis CK deals with improvising kid
timesunion: PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Beware of improvising 6-year-old actors. That’s a warning from comic Louis C.K., who said Sunday that acting with Ursula Parker is one of the hardest parts of his job. Parker plays one of his two daughters on the FX show “Louie.” C.K. says Parker likes to improvise and even though he tells her not to, she does it because she knows it bugs him. The comic joked:...

Note to self:
Turns out the cure for absurdly disproportionate blues and elementary existentialism is the following: 2 viewings of ‘How To Be Alone’ [I’ve reblogged it at least three times, but here’s the link- http://youtu.be/k7X7sZzSXYs ] 2 viewings of ‘It’s Just A Ride’ [ http://youtu.be/7criyE09uy0 ] 17 plays of Jeff Buckley songs

–  Achewood creator Chris Onstad’s interview with Comics Alliance helps crystallize so much of why I love comics and sharing them online. Achewood is one of the few comics that makes me feel like I’m transported somewhere else when I read it, and Onstad really inspired a lot of what I make and how I...

Jonas Polsky: Comedy Audiences And Taping →
jonaspolsky: This evening there was a dust-up about how a young Patton Oswalt handled an audience member videotaping his set. Patton asked if she was taping and the woman responded, “You’re going to want that whole chunk on tape, it was perfect!” I wasn’t there, but that quote underscores a larger issue with comedy shows: THE AUDIENCE HAS NO IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON. Definitely worth a read.
